INVOCELL™ STUDIES – SAN ANTONIO, TX
Countless couples and individuals who suffer from infertility can benefit from undergoing in vitro fertilization, which you may know better as IVF. As effective as IVF is, it can be cost prohibitive for some people. There are effective and more affordable alternatives to consider at our San Antonio, TX center, including INVOcell™, Nature’s IVF™.
Let’s take a moment to go over the basics of INVOcell™ and then note some clinical studies into its safety, effectiveness, and success rates. This should help you understand why more and more people are expressing interest in this IVF alternative.
About INVOcell™
INVOcell™ is similar in principle as IVF but much different in execution.
During IVF, an egg is fertilized and allowed to incubate in a lab until the cells start to divide. With INVOcell™, an egg is fertilized and then placed into a cylindrical device approximately 4cm long. This capsule is then placed inside of the patient’s vagina where incubation takes place over the course of about five days. Once the cells have divided, the best embryo can then be transferred to the uterus to be carried to term.
That’s right: during INVOcell™ treatment, the egg does not incubate in a lab setting, but rather in the mother.
The Benefits of INVOcell™
There are a few significant benefits to INVOcell™:
- Less expensive than traditional IVF
- Psychological advantages of the incubation process
- More natural incubation than a lab setting
- Reduced risk of wrong embryo transfer
- Comparable rates of success to IVF
INVOcell™ Clinical Trials in South America
Relatively recent clinical trials were completed in fertility clinics located in Brazil, Bolivia, Columbia, and Peru. Of the 450 cycles that were performed, there were 146 successful pregnancies and 132 live births. This includes 13 sets of twins and 6 sets of triplets.
Success Rates of INVOcell™
A 2016 study published by the Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics found that the success rates of INVOcell™ were close to the success rates of traditional IVF. That study found that INVOcell™ has a live birth rate of 55 percent; IVF has a live birth rate of 60 percent. The closeness of these numbers are proof of the potential INVOcell™has for many people out there.
Current INVOcell™ Clinical Trial from UCSF
At the moment, the University of California San Francisco Center for Reproductive Health is performing a study comparing the embryos from IVF to the embryos from INVOcell™. The study will be completed by the end of the year, and we’ll pay careful attention to what these findings say about the overall quality of INVOcell™ treatment.
